Ryan Christopher Shaw born December 25, 1980 is a soul musician from Georgia, USA. Shaw began singing in the Pentecostal Free Church of God in Christ at the age of three in Lithonia, Georgia, having been raised in a deeply religious household. Shaw won a spot in a gospel musical at Georgia State University, and in 1998 he dropped out of college to take part in Tyler Perry's play I Know I've Been Changed. At the end of the play's run he began doing Motown covers in New York, joining the group. THIS IS RYAN SHAW is the 2007 debut of vocalist Ryan Shaw, a young troubadour with his gaze set firmly on the classic soul and R&B of yesteryear. In sharp distinction to a lot of his neo-soul contemporaries, Shaw genuinely channels the spirit of Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, and other Stax and Motown legends, without the gloss of urban contemporary beats and production compromising the vibe.
