Album

Metamorphosis is the third compilation album of the Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records who usurped control of the band's DeccaLondon material in 1970 after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. Released in 1975, Metamorphosis centres on outtakes and alternate versions of well-known songs recorded from 1964 to 1970. The Rolling Stones undoubtedly felt they had to do something about the bastard album hogging all that money during their current tour. The result is Made in the Shade, a virtual program of the bands current repertoire in order of performance. The only exception is Bitch, that great appetite song which cant be given justice without its almost Moroccan horn lines. Shades selection is familiar enough. One re-exults in Keiths trenchant autobiography, Happy, and rediscovers Heartbreaker as an anarchist masterpiece. Though it remains the only Rolling Stones outtakes collection album ever to be officially released, Metamorphosis is one of those albums that has been slighted by almost everyone who has touched it, a problem that lies in its genesis. While both the Stones and former manager Allen Klein agreed that some form of archive release was necessary, if only to stem the then-ongoing flow of bootlegs, they could not agree how to present it. Metamorphosis Rolling Stones album. The album's cover art alludes to Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis. Track listing. All songs by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, except where noted. Album 1975 16 Songs. Mostly these are demos of Jagger-Richards songs meant to pitch to other performers, sung by Jagger with session musicians including future Zeppelin-ites Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones and sometimes Stones sideman Nicky Hopkins rather than the actual Stones. And it's not bad at all: An orchestral Out of Time a U. hit for Chris Farlowe with the same backing track, an alternate Memo From Turner different from Mick's version from the movie Performance, a Bill Wyman outtake from the Beggars Banquet sessions and Stevie Wonder's I Don't Know Why.
