Tired of Toein' the Line is a song by Rocky Burnette, who co-wrote it with Ron Coleman, former bass player of the Brothers Grim and The Everly Brothers. It was performed by Burnette, and contains lyrics detailing an imminent breakup from the point of view of a man who no longer wants to toe the line. After first appearing on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 75 in November 1979, it became an international hit after its release in the United States in May 1980, and was Burnette's only hit single. Written by Rocky Burnette & Ron Coleman, recorded by Rocky Burnette. Released in May 1980 from the album The Son of Rock and Roll it reached Burnette was part of the early 1980s revival of the rockabilly style. He released his first album, Son of Rock 'n' Roll, on EMI America in 1979. In the summer of 1980, his single Tired of Toein' the Line became a Top Ten hit in the United States. The song was also popular internationally. EMI America's financial problems interfered with promotion efforts for the follow-up singles several of which became hits in other countries, and Burnette's second album, Heart Stopper, was not successful.
