The album YPLL by Retox came out on this day in 2013. Back then, and still to this day, people genuinely didn't or don't care about what they were doing , on a more mainstream level that is. But there is a reason for what they did. It was something that they had to do, not for money, or fame, or anything that the larger world thinks people play music for. It was for something entirely different. Three One G co-released the band's album, and in relation to YPLL, we released a documentary film that not only has the players from YPLL but a lot of the band's friends and comrades. There is a massive reason for some of the people who do this type of stuff in this world. RETOX deliver a mission statement in 12 blistering tracks, the vast majority of them clocking in at two minutes or less. It's the type of rallying battle cry that inspires lingering and dormant primal urges and too-long-suppressed societal dissatisfaction in those who encounter its punk rock lineage and postmodern crash-and-ban. Combining the jagged edges of stripped downback-to-basics rock n' roll with bombastic attitude and art-rock intelligentsia, using the prism of the past to look toward the potential brilliance of the future, RETOX's YPLL arrives via Epitaph Records. Retox is the Norwegian band Turbonegro's 7th album. This is the first release under the band's newly created Scandinavian Leather Recordings. The album was released on June 11, 2007 in Norway, June 13, 2007 in Sweden, and on June 15, 2007 in the rest of Europe excluding the UK, it was released on June 23, 2007 in Australia, July 9, 2007 in UK, and finally August 14, 2007 in the United States. The four-piece was founded by Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian, both of whom had previously performed together in The Locust, Holy Molar and Head Wound City. The two additional members are Thor Dickey and Michael Crain. Serbian was replaced by Brian Evans in 2013. Retox has since been signed to Ipecac Recordings and Epitaph Records and released three studio albums: Ugly Animals 2011, YPLL 2013 and Beneath California 2015.
