The Utah quintet's debut album, Why Less Desire to Be Neat perhaps is one of the most unlikely records ever to claim inspiration from the Louisville, KY axis of groups like Slint. The band itself names that scene as an influence, but Remington Standard take a far gentler approach to music than groups like Mogwai ever do - there's no contrast between heavy aggression and near silence, just low-key performances. It's all the more impressive given the make-up of the group: three play guitar, two piano, three percussion, and more besides.
