Raimes second album, Tooth, arrives June 10, 2016 on 2xLP, CD and digital formats. The widescreen melancholia of their 2012 debut, Quarter Turns Over A Living Line, gives way to an urgent and focussed futurism, in the shape of eight fiercely uptempo, minimal, meticulously crafted electro-acoustic rhythm tracks. The DNA of dub-techno, garagegrime and post-hardcore rock music spliced into sleek and predatory new forms. No let-up, no hesitation. Needlepoint guitar, deftly junglist drum programming, brooding synths and lethal sub-bass drive the engine. The production is immaculate, high definiti. Three years have passed since we last heard from London duo Raime. Moving from 2012s Quarter Turns Over a Living Line, Moin capitalised on the distortion which made their sound so characteristically ominous. Its rhythmic, industrial noise spoke of ever approaching violence but sturdy post-rock roots kept this violence human. Tooth does the opposite, instead peeling back Quarter Turns distorted skin to reveal something all the more cold and threatening. The impression is different the violence is not advancing but here already and it moves with a perpetual, jittery energy. Released 2016. Tooth Tracklist. Coax Lyrics. Genre: Dark Ambient. Tooth demonstrates Raime as multi-dimensional musicians, even if you have to travel through a black hole to get to those dimensions. Full Review. Best of 2016. Worst of 2016. Raime - Tooth In the three and a half years since the release of Raime's debut album, Quarter Turns Over A Living Line, the duo and their label have come to represent a certain type of bleakness that's become common in electronic music in recent years. Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead have played a large part in Blackest Ever Black's identity. Their first album is a multi-faceted record of real quality, subtly suggesting a whole host of predecessors-from head-down dubstep to drone rock bands like Earth. Tooth is a step-change for the pair. Quarter Turns had felt like closure in a wa
