Let the Sunday of Life. is the debut album of English progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released in May 1992. It compiles tracks that Steven Wilson produced and recorded for two cassette-only releases, Tarquin's Seaweed Farm 1989 and The Nostalgia Factory 1991. The rest of the music from these tapes was released three years later in the compilation album Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape. On The Sunday Of Life is the debut album of English progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released in July, 1991. This first real album contained a lot of peculiar material, but also tracks that would grow to be among the group's classic songs particularly Radioactive Toy. Most of the lyrics were written by Alan Duffy, a school friend with whom Steven Wilson had lost touch a few years before the album was released. Porcupine Tree. Rock 1991. Music for the Porcupine Tree weren't always the unique genius band they are today. And there have always been comparisons to Pink Floyd. Well On the Sunday of Life. reeks of Pink Floyd. Most of the filler sounds like it could've been ripped straight out of any of their spacey albums. Despite the heavy influence of Pink Floyd, On the Sunday of Life has some really original songs. A strange mix of psychedelic and synth pop takes over in songs like Nostalgia Factory and Linton Samuel Dawson, both featuring strangely high pitched vocals. Porcupine Tree's debut is really one big in-joke, which actually makes for a better reason to record something that pretends to be profoundly deep through and through. As released, it doesn't make mention of the tracks' origins as the supposed product of a mysterious cult psychprog rock band, but the packaging and artwork even the fonts would make the Dukes of Stratosphear proud.
