Jump to navigation Jump to search. Catero Records Fred Catero of San Francisco signed Speer and released his first solo album Collection 983: Spectral Voyages in 1984. That was followed by two very successful music and video collaborations with David Lanz and director Jan Nickman, for the films Natural States 1985 and Desert Vision 1987. Speer and Scott Rockenfield, drummer for the metal band Queensrÿche, teamed in 1997 to create another music and video work, the Grammy nominated TeleVoid. Starting with his first solo release in 1984 Collection 983: Spectral Voyages, Paul has enjoyed a long and diverse career as both an artist and record producer. Since that time, he has produced more than 250 albums in a variety of genres and along with recording partner David Lanz, created three top selling albums for NaradaEMI Records. Lovely, soothing yet energizing sounds from American guitarist Paul Speer. Chiming guitars, a mantra-like rhythm section, subtle sax, and lush synths, plus some nature sounds for good measure. The songs almost sound like extended intros, riding single-chord ring-outs for the entirety of their duration, and relying on subtle shifts in instrumentation and intensity for movement.
