Paul Jones' debut album, 1966's My Way, found him andor his record company seemingly determined to follow a far more all-around pop entertainer sound than Jones had trodden as the lead singer of Manfred Mann. Such strategies rarely yield fruitful results, and that was the case here, with a set list that, in trying to please everybody, came up short all around. My Way is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song Comme d'habitude composed and written by French songwriter Jacques Revaux, performed in 1967 by Claude François. Its English lyrics were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song. The song was a success for a variety of performers including Sinatra, Jocelyne, Elvis Presley, and Sid Vicious. Sinatra's version of My Way spent 75 weeks in the UK Top 40, a record which still stands.
