Paul Stewart, singer-songwriter and trumpet player, Dave Pace and Mick Morris are all original members in the band which was named for the Federated Ship Painters and Dockers Union when they performed an early gig at a pub rock venue in Port Melbourne frequented by the union's members. Some members of the band went on to form the Dili Allstars. Love Planet is a music album by Painters And Dockers released in 1984. Love Planet is ranked 19,739th in the overall chart, 2,763rd in the 1980s, and 260th in the year 1984. Sadly Painters and Dockers would never get close to repeating this great debut release but it stands testament to a time and place when for a short time they were kings of Melbourne.
