Visions de l'Amen Visions of the Amen is a suite of seven pieces for two pianos by the French composer Olivier Messiaen 19081992, commissioned for the Concerts de la Pléiade that were held during the German occupation of Paris. It was composed in 1943 for the composer and Yvonne Loriod, and its performance requires about 4045 minutes. Visions de l'Amen for two pianos is the first work Messiaen composed after having been released from a German prisoner of war camp during the second world war and also one of his last on an overtly religious theme for some time. It was performed to great acclaim a number of times during and immediately after the war and provided the first instance for his future partner Loriod to play alongside Messiaen on equal footing.
