Although the musical language is essentially the same as that of the symphony, with ever-shifting textures and atmospheres, I am not sure I was as convinced by this work for lack of a better description it seems to lack the sophistication of the symphony, frequently relying on rather predictable moves and descriptive effects that are too literal. Symphony No. 6 is supposed to be Norgard's last statement on the form, at least according to published reports. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra Danish: DR SymfoniOrkestret English abbreviation DNSO, is a Danish orchestra based in Copenhagen. The DNSO is the principal orchestra of DR Danish Broadcasting Corporation. The DRSO is based at the Copenhagen Concert Hall. The roots of the orchestra date back to the singer Emil Holm, who expressed a wish to establish a full-time symphony orchestra in Denmark. In collaboration with fellow musicians Otto Fessel, Rudolf Dietz Mann and Folmer Jensen, the. The symphony had been commissioned by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic to celebrate the Millennium, and the first performance six days into the year 2000 was to prove one of the self-renewals with which Nørgård has so often surprised us. The symphony is dedicated to Nørgårds wife, Helle Rahbæk Nørgård.
