Recommended more highly to R&Bpop listeners than to jazz collectors, this set does not reach the heights of most of the New York Voices' recordings and is therefore quite dispensable. Track Listing. New York Voices is a jazz vocal group that was founded in 1987 by Peter Eldridge, Caprice Fox, Sara Krieger, Darmon Meader, and Kim Nazarian. All except Krieger were members of an alumni group from Ithaca College that toured Europe in 1986. They began performing as the New York Voices in 1988 and issued their debut album the following year. Sara Krieger left in 1992 and was replaced by Lauren Kinhan. After Caprice Fox left, the group became a quartet. New York Voices GRP, 1989. New York Voices Format: Audio CD. I didn't think this Album was that spectacular. It's a little too modern and funk for my tastes, more like some of Manhattan Transfer's later, less good albums. Founded in 1988, NYV is one of the premiere Vocal Jazz Groups. Their storied blend, exciting. From '89 to '94, they released four CDs on the GRP label, New York Voices, Hearts of Fire, What's Inside, and The Collection. While recording for GRP, they underwent personnel changes. In 1992, Sara Krieger retired her chair, and after auditioning over 60 vocalists from all over the United States, the group found Lauren Kinhan. There was an immediate chemistry, allowing the group to make a quick transition and become the new New York Voices
