Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is the second studio album by American rock band My Chemical Romance, released on June 8, 2004 by Reprise Records. Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is the second studio album released by American alternative rock band My Chemical Romance. The album was released on June 8, 2004 and was the band's first album released with Reprise Records. Many would also argue it was the band's first major album, as Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge gave them a larger fan base than I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, their previous album. Revenge is really the band. Bullets is the band trying to find itself. By the time we hit Revenge we had really become My Chemical Romance. The concept for this album is that a man, thought to be one of the Demolition Lovers from their first album, is gunned down in a fight, but makes a deal with the Devil that if he brings him the souls of a thousand evil men, his life will be restored and hell be reunited with his love otherwise, he gets dragged. to Hell and will never see his lover again. Each song is tied. My Chemical Romance released their official debut, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, in July 2002. The record, produced by Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly and released on local punk mainstay Eyeball Records, had the hallmarks of the hardcore scene that surrounded them: guitars ripped through verses clean vocals slipped into shredded screams. But Bensons coaching pushed the album, what we now know as Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, to its emotive peaks. While recording The Ghost of You, a seething song about loss, Benson convinced the band to include a final chorus to end the song. We all hated having that chorus in that song, Toro later said. Gnarly, thrashing riffs announce Thank You for the Venom, while the mosh-fomenting Give 'Em Hell, Kid and To the End boast charred guitars and Gerard Ways vocal desperation. Yet Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge shows an obsession with duality-lyrics contrast life and death, pleasure and pain, darkness and light. This adds thematic depth and gives mellower moments like the Cure-esque grayscale moodiness in The Ghost of Yo.
