Show all albums by Moonface. With Wolf Parade on hiatus, Moonface is co-lead singer Spencer Krug's one-man band amid a myriad of other projects. Following 2010's Dreamland EP: Marimba and Shit-Drums, the followup's equally disarming, self-critical title refers to an abandoned attempt to record using mostly vibraphone. The five tracks each around six minutes long initially suggest early synthesiser music: John Foxx, or a minimal OMD. Gradually, Krug draws you into his experimental adventure, an eerie netherworld of stark, mechanical wails on Shit-Hawk in the Snow and, particularly on the outstanding Return to the Violence of the Ocean Floor, vocal lines of dramatic passion and power.
