Liner Notes (Booklet):
Many of Moby's exciting dance mixes and unusual B-sides have never been available on his full length CD albums. Moby has always been one of the most sought after re-mixers because of the genre bending breadth of ideas he brings to a song with each new mix.
[1] The Original Voodoo Child 12" single was recorded and released in February 1991 with this classic remix 12" following quickly in May of the same year. Harder edged and over-driven by growling synths, this version became the club choice. Voodoo Child is one of the few Moby alter-egos still in use today. [2] This Dance remix version of Moby's international club anthem, 'Next Is The E' was released as a single in early 1993. Moby's debut album was released before this remix was completed featuring, instead, the earlier version that appeared in the movie Cool World. [3] Originally recorded and released under the name Barracuda in May of '91. The Barracuda alter-ego gave Moby an outlet for his lighter, somewhat hip-house flavored recordings. [4] A previously unreleased mix of Moby's darkest acid-tinged club masterpiece. [5] While Moby recorded an EP under the name of UHF, this song did not make it's appearance there. UHF 2 was released as a Moby title bonus track from Moby's May 1992 'Drop A Beat' single. [6] Moby's first-ever single on Instinct was originally released under the name 'The Brotherhood' in September of '90. An intense, trip-hop excursion, the Dust Mix was years ahead of it's time. [7] An alternative mix of the club hit from the 'Drop A Beat' single of May '92. [8] From Moby's debut vinyl EP title 'Mobility'. While B-side track 'Go' was remixed later and became a dance floor classic, most Moby fans consider this mix of 'Mobility' a classic as well, in it's original form. [9] As 'Next Is The E' evolved over continuous re-mixing into 'I Feel It' it's power and strength grew even deeper. This powerful and haunting version features Moby's live bass guitar. From the 'Next Is The E' single of '93. [10] Hailed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the 'fastest song ever recorded' this twisted hardcore club classic was another bonus track from the 'Next Is The E' single.
Moby: RARE presents an extraordinary collection of the DJ-only alternate mixes of many classic Moby songs and other rarities. None of these versions have been released in CD album form. The original Singles have been out of print for quite some time.
Moby: RARE features a free bonus CD with the complete, collected Mixes of 'Go', an exceptional 14 track tour-de-force in continuous mix form presenting a surprising journey from trance, through dub, electronic, into rave and beyond and then back again. These rare remixes have never been collected together before.
