But this first Mama's Pride album is the real find. Southern Rock fans especially will like the songs here. Lots of melodic tunes with great harmonies, and some fine guitar playing too, although most songs are on the mellower end of the spectrum, rather than rough and rowdy rockers. Mama's Pride's self-titled debut is a great example of Southern-style rock from the mid-Central states St. Louis, MO, to be exact. The band could clearly jam as well as the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, and the Outlaws, so why their albums remained in the vaults so long is one of the great mysteries of rock & roll.
