Malcolm and Alwyn were a popular British gospel beat music group in the 1970s. They played rock music influenced by Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and The Beatles with lyrics reflecting their conversion to Christianity. The duo was composed of Malcolm Wild and Alwyn Wall, who had been performing together in a band called The Zodiacs prior to their conversion. Malcolm and Alwyn recorded two albums in the early '70s before they disbanded in 1976, and a live reunion album in 1981 before again parting. Alwyn Wall released solo albums as well, Alwyn showing up on Star Song records in 1981 under the heading Larry Norman Presents with his solo debut Invisible Warfare. Malcolm is best known for his band Malcolm & The Mirrors who did a punk rock stint starting with the album Red Alert in 1982. This album is a far cry from the rock recordings they made, but shows their hearts, personality, and musicianship. It's a fun recording that sounds like it was a big blessing to the California church that hosted it. Wish we could have been there. Both men are now senior pastors at Calvary Chapel churches Malcolm at Merritt Island, near Cape Canaveral in Florida for 20 years, and Alwyn in Westminster, central London since 2000.
