Compilation of extracts from various Magma releases. Tray card lists 8 basic tracks, back of booklet breaks them down into individual extracts with durations. No credit info listed on this release.
The Japanese version is manufactured in France and identical to the 1997 French version, but also includes an obi and an additional insert in Japanese.
Thanks to the intricate side-long suites that constitute most of the group's output, Magma is hell to compile. When the exhilaration of following the frantic pace of a 25-minute movement is central to the experience of listening to this band, any attempt at a best-of collection is doomed to fail and Kompila, despite the best intentions, does just that. Whoever took care of this set no names are given made a risky decision. Studio Zünd by Magma Compilation album Year: 2008 Release date: 2008-11-20 Overall rank: 0th.
