Composer Luc Ferrari's two works Interrupteur For 10 Instruments and Tautologos 3 For 11 Instruments were first recorded by EMI in 1970 and have never before been issued in the United States. The significance of these two works from Ferrari's wildly diverse catalogue is that they are both departures from his animated and active music of the '50s and '60s. He was a founding member of RTF's Groupe de Recherches Musicales GRMC, working alongside composers such as Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry. Ferrari was born in Paris, and was trained in music at a very young age. He studied the piano under Alfred Cortot, musical analysis under Olivier Messiaen, and composition under Arthur Honegger.
