The most significant aspect to this quartet outing by pianist Lou Stein is that he performs six of his own originals only East of Suez is particularly well-known the others are more recent. Stein, who doubles on electric piano during the date, plays much more modern and contemporary than one might expect. While bassist Frank Gravitz and drummer Bobby Rosengarden provide fine backing, tenor saxophonist Al Klink an alumnus of Glenn Miller's Orchestra has a rare opportunity to stretch out. He played with Glenn Miller when the latter was stateside during World War II. After the war he worked with Charlie Ventura 194647 and became a session musician.
