Once again Laurent Garnier proves that his musical taste and his trackselection is exceptionally sophisticated:

This mix is a perfect example for his jazzy and (in my opinion) very sensitive aproach to genres like house, techno and electro (I personally wouldn't call that DJ Krust track "DnB", but some might think differently). The first half is fully loaded with melodic house (or detroit techno) tracks and after about 30 minutes some heavy basslines drop in which are not at all agressive or harsh (as you can find it in some dubstep tracks), before the mix becomes jazzy again. While the first part of that CD mainly contains transitions and blending like Garnier would perform in some club (one might compare it to the first two CDs of his "Excess Luggage" album), the last part (starting with Nightmares On Wax) is more eclectic (reminds me of his "Electric Picnic" sets from 2005 or the "Expect The Unexpected" tour with Jeff Mills back in 2004).

What I find quite interesting is the fact that he didn't use any "filling tracks" but only tracks with a distinctive style/design. Nevertheless, the whole mix doesn't sound kitschy or overconscientious at any point.

All in all this mixtape is highly enjoyable and, thanks to the diversified but nevertheless consistent track selection (in my opinion only the DJ Krust track doesn't fit in that well), very suitable for some party warmup on a saturaday evening with friends as well as for some relaxed sunday afternoon.
