Three absolute timeless classics! Airspace is definitely done in the style of the Detroit techno vibe! One of my faves from this LP! <3 <3

Dark Matter samples One Tribe Inimitable Attitude. One of my favourite tunes of '92 heard it on Ratty Dance nation tape first.

I believe 14b was the studio address for Ron Wells aka Jack smooth.

Yes, 14b Hillingdon Hill, Uxbridge was where Sound Entity Studio began. ;-)

Anyone else ever wondered what the "14B" in the title means?

What another slab of Excellence from the Basement. TBN my personal favorite on this EP great drum patterns with a not so fast but still bouncy techno bass drum beat over the top and then theres the catchy chime hook to boot which really makes the tune instantly recogniseable, even the Papa D sample sits superbly into the track and isnt over used, Fine production. Dark Matter another fantastic track but unfortunately we were spoilt with Kev Birds 93 Remix a few months on BRSS 021, which to me cant be surpassed and unfortunately pulls me away from the original mix each time. Airspace is the Ep's dominant Techno offering in my eyes maintaining this release stuck strong to its roots with its Techno edge. Basement has to be the number one stable from its day with pretty much every release having a instantly recogniseable masterpiece on each plate.

From the review of BRSS003 explains how Kev Bird was a regular customer at my shop and so was Paul Saunders. Paul was signed to Reading Football Club and used to come into my shop 'The Record Basement' at least twice a week. He was as nuts about Techno as I was and I used to keep some of the obscure stuff for him. He was also a talented DJ and his mixing was tight, more important was the records he played and mixed together which gave him a unique sound, his handle was The Wax Doctor. He hooked up with Kev in the shop and asked me if it would be ok for him to make a tune with Kev for the label, I didn't need convincing, so I rang Ron and booked the guys in. The result was a brilliant three track ep and now noted as 'Jungle Techno', Basement classic's. The combination of Ron Kev & Paul produced one of those magical moments, Dark Matter got instantly battered by the DJs and Airspace & Tough But Nice slowly grew in stature as well.

Does anybody know what the sample says in the track " t.b.n." I always thought it said " papa gee know he aint crazy? " cheers

Goktilar
I thought it was "Harmony. Know what it is!"

Jan
It says: "Pop an E, know it ain't crazy".

Narder
well done, cheers for the source of the sample, when i use to hear that t.b.n. tune on an old hardcore mix tape back in 92 , i always thought it said papa gee.......Thats spliffs, tennents and muffled mixtapes for ya..

Diredefender
Yep. mulder is correct. Sampled from Loose Bruce's "Feeling Moody" on Bassment Records from NYC, U.S.

Fearlesshunter
