Note: This album originally went to the pressing plant completely unmastered, hence the low output of audio and lack of various EQFX enhancements. It was finally mastered for the first time in 2006 when Peaceville Records re-released it. The initial cd pressings had a purple logo, but it was hardly visible, so Avantgarde Music changed the logo to blackwhite on the later pressings. Brave Murder Day is Katatonia's second full-length album, released in 1996 by Avantgarde Music. This album created a new guitar position with Fredrik Norrman's input, and features harsh vocals by Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth. It is also the last Katatonia LP to feature any death growls and other death metal elements. The original version of the record was not mastered, but the 2006 Peaceville Records re-release finally released a mastered version of the album and included the Sounds of Decay EP as bonus. Dynamics aren't exactly places at a premium on Brave Murder Day, but quieter moments on tracks like Day are a nice touch. These softer spots never really hint at the band's coming genre shift, and unlike later outings, there are no borderline alternative rock moments on Brave Murder Day. This should delight fans of Katatonia's earliest recordings. Consistent and committed to its gloomy theme, this 1997 Century Media offering represents the metallic high-water mark from an ever-evolving group. But when they released their 1996 masterpiece, Brave Murder Day, the band actually played a sort of goth-metal hybrid. Featuring a three-man lineup, this album also features one huge guest: Opeths own Michael Akerfeldt, who delivers most of the vocals on this album. His performance is as solid as it is interesting, and indeed proves to be one of the high points of this album. The Katatonia sound on this album is best described as a mixture of catchy goth-rock riffs and drum patterns, growled vocals and frequent acoustic moments. Despite the presence of Akerfeldt, the real star of this album is the guitar, magnificently played by Blackheim. Listen free to Katatonia Brave Murder Day Brave, Murder and more. 6 tracks 41:14. The album features harsh vocals by Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth. The Century Black reissue of the album also includes the four tracks from the band's For Funerals to Come EP, while the later Peaceville reissue contained all 3 tracks from the Sounds of Decay EP. In 2004 Northern Silence Productions released the album on vinyl. Album 1997 9 Songs. Brave Murder Day. Hard Rock 1997. Katatonia : Brave Murder Day,альбом, рецезия, трек-лист, mp3, тексты песен. Brave Murder Day marks an important transitional period for the band from the original Blackened DeathDoom style to the Depressive Metal band we all know today. Compared to Dance of December Souls, Brave Murder Day takes a more accessible, softer and melodic direction yet still in keeping with their original DeathDoom sound. Whereas Dance of December Souls was bleak and harrowing, being profoundly emotional as well, Brave Murder Day sounds far less bleak with some sections that are surprisingly vaguely uplifting. 1996 veröffentlichten Katatonia ihr zweites Album Brave Murder Day.
