Credits from AG Rojas' accompanying film for Kamasi Washington's "Truth".
The 13 minute track “Truth” is Washington's first release on London based label Young Turks and will be featured on his forthcoming Harmony Of Difference EP. The music and film debuted as part of an original six-movement suite that premiered as part of this year’s Whitney Biennial and involves artwork and imagery by Washington's sister Amani Washington alongside a film by AG Rojas. The suite explores the philosophical possibilities of counterpoint – defined by Washington as “the art of balancing similarity and difference to create harmony between separate melodies”.

Jazz voyager Kamasi Washington released an expansive, winding new song Truth. The 14-minute track is the sixth and final movement from his upcoming EP, Harmony of Difference, due out this summer via Young Turks. Truth unfurls with breezy piano chords, soulful electric guitar counter-melodies, wordless choral chants and washes of the bandleaders smoldering saxophone. Throughout the EP, Washington explores the musical technique of counterpoint, which the avant-garde jazz player defines as the art of balancing similarity and difference to create harmony between separate melodies. Kamasi Washington continues an old line of musical thought and keeps the genre fresh. Favorite track: Change of the Guard. Kamasi Washington - Truthby --. video for Kamasi Washingtons new single, Truth, unfolds much like the saxophonists strain of big band jazz: warm, enveloping, and communal. Theres a bright intimacy from which Washingtons music derives, and it always seems to land exactly at the right time. His exceptional 2015 debut album, The Epic, arrived at the height of racial tensions in America songs like The Rhythm Changes, Malcolms Theme and The Message sought to pacify our collective angst. Truth hits the same chord, even if the external factors have changed
