Judith is American singer and songwriter Judy Collins' 12th studio album, released in 1975 by Elektra Records in both stereo 7E-1032 and CD-4 quadraphonic EQ-1032 versions. Collins recorded Judith three years after her precedent album True Stories and Other Dreams, having been focused during the interim on producing Antonia: a Portrait of the Woman a documentary about Antonia Brico. This album was just perfect for me when it came out. I still think it's a beautiful album. Track List: 1-4 1. By the mid-'70s, Judy Collins had earned a reputation as a masterful interpretive singer as well as shown a late-blooming gift as a songwriter. But while much of her work displayed an artful and contemplative tone, after she scored a surprise hit single with her a cappella rendition of Amazing Grace, Collins was nudged a few steps closer to the mainstream, and 1975's Judith often strikes an uncomfortable balance between misguided pop confections and sturdier material which more readily suits her talents. Beg read more. Album 1975 12 Songs. Judith, Judy Collins's 12th album not counting anthologies, was her biggest album ever in sales, but also her last album to make the top twenty. It was fueled by her hit version of Send In the Clowns, a rare single that was a chart hit in two non consecutive years, 1975 and 1977, being a bigger hit the second time around.
