The Hawk remix is something of a pleasant surprise a number of Håkon Lofthus previous productions, in particular Need For Cognition and Cantus but not, might I add, Youre Mine are rather relaxed and laid-back in terms of speed, but his remix here is unusually quick. However, his trademark rumbling bassline and swirling atmospheres remain which, synthesised with the delightful original melodies that Hahmo created. Despite brimming with delicious melodies, ‘The Fusion’ is dramatically improved as a production by the two excellent remixes from two producers with quite different sounds. The Hawk remix is something of a pleasant surprise; a number of Håkon Lofthus’ previous productions, in particular ‘Need For Cognition’ and ‘Cantus’ (but not, might I add, ‘You’re Mine’) are rather relaxed and laid-back in terms of speed, but his remix here is unusually quick. However, his trademark rumbling bassline and swirling atmospheres remain which, synthesised with the delightful original melodies that Hahmo created make this my favourite mix of the three.

Maor Levi’s remix provides a different sonic perspective altogether. The elongated bass sections of the previous two mixes are significantly compacted here, creating a much more pumping, driving sound. Unlike the remixes under his Maori alias however, the sound is not at all dark and mysterious, which is probably a good thing taking into consideration the undeniably bubbly melodies of the Original Mix. Instead, he introduces a recurring sound sample unlike anything heard on the previous two mixes, which works extremely well.

If you have heard any of Hahmo’s productions and/or remixes with Matti Kotala under their Alt + F4 project, you might be slightly surprised at the different sounds and influences present here. Indeed, it is a much more progressive number than both ‘Alt + F4’ and their remix of 8 Wonders’ ‘8th Wonder’. Nevertheless, it is a very strong production in its own right and an excellent demonstration of the young Finn’s talents.
