Jimmie Lee Robinson April 30, 1931 July 6, 2002, also known as Lonesome Lee, was an American blues musician who was predominantly known for his involvement in the Chicago blues scene in the 1950s and 1960s. He performed with other blues musicians of the period and worked as a session musician. Following a hiatus from music, Robinson returned to the profession in the 1990s to record his own material for full-length albums. Guns, Gangs, and Drugs. Jimmie Lee Robinson was born on April 30 1931 in the shadow of Maxwell Street. His parents were from Mississippi. Robinson's great-grandmother was a Choctaw Indian. His great-grandfather had been born a slave, and became a travelling preacher after he was freed. He returned to performing in America and Europe and released Guns, Gangs and Drugs and Maxwell Blues on his own label, Amina Records. He also released The Lost American Bluesmen on the Midnight Creeper label. Robinson joined the APO label in 1998, recording Remember Me and All My Life. He had been diagnosed with bone cancer and shot himself in his car on July 6.
