Jim & Jesse's signing to Capitol Records in 1952 marked their recording debut as a duo they had previously cut some gospel material as part of the Virginian Trio, not to mention their first work for a large record company. This album combines the results of their first two recording sessions, on June 13, 1952, and March 16, 1953. At the second session, Jesse McReynolds was on leave from the army. Originally, the tracks were released as singles. You may submit artist- and album-related corrections to the TiVo data team by following the steps on this page. First Sounds: The Capitol Years. Capitol, EMI Records 42065. Jim & Jesse were an American bluegrass music duo composed of brothers Jim McReynolds February 13, 1927 December 31, 2002 and Jesse McReynolds born July 9, 1929. The two were born and raised in Carfax, a community near Coeburn, Virginia. Their grandfather, Charles McReynolds, had led the band The Bull Mountain Moonshiners who recorded at the famous Bristol Sessions in 1927. Capitol's reissue of their first duo recordings - waxed in a pair of sessions from 1952 and 1953 - provides a generous helping of their earliest and most heartfelt bluegrass work. These early sides present Jim & Jesse at a time when bluegrass was all they sang. Their later work, especially at Epic in the '60s, would delve into straight country and electric instruments, but at this point, the line-up included only Jim's guitar, Jesse's mandolin and acoustic support from Curley Seckler guitar, Hoke Jenkins banjo, Sonny James fiddle, and Bob L. Moore bass on the '52 session, and Lloyd. by Jim & Jesse. Released: October 22, 2002. Track Listing. I'll Wash Your Love from My Heart. Y'all Come: The Essential Jim & Jesse. Jim & Jesse.
