Recorded live on 8:15pm April 5th 1986, Downtown, Houston. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Houston and Texas, and of the 25th anniversary of NASA.
This event was also dedicated to the memory of the astronauts who were killed in the Challenger tradegy. One of them, Ron McNair, astronaut and saxophonist, should have interpreted "Ron's Piece" in space (a title specially composed for him).
Attracting over one and a half million people to witness the concert, the event gained entry into the Guiness Book Of Records for having the largest audience ever for an outdoor concert (1.3 million people).
Video also contains a "Making Of" special of approx 20 minutes (including interviews). Track 1 to 4 are mixed with the background sounds of this special, from track 5 onwards the actual concert begins.
Rendez-vous Houston: A City in Concert was a live performance by musician Jean Michel Jarre amidst the skyscrapers of downtown Houston on the evening of April 5, 1986, coinciding with the release of the Rendez-Vous album. For a period of time, it held a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest outdoor rock concert in history, with figures varying from 1 to 1. 5 million in attendance.
