Dream a Garden is the second album by UK producer Jam City. Inspired by the 2011 England riots and the work of bell hooks, Dream a Garden further develops the socio-political conscience of its predecessor, engaging particularly with the effects of neoliberalism. Latham has stated that the album is about the personal effects of living under capitalism. Why do I feel shit and why do the people I love feel shit when they look at. Jam City - Dream A Garden. There can be few curves in artistic development between albums as the one Jam City has undertaken here with Dream A Garden. His 2012 debut album Classical Curves has had a seismic influence on the structure of much UK club music since then, but instead of further developing and finessing those sonic ideas Jack Latham has gone a whole other route into fully fledged song writing. In October 2014, Jack Latham teased the March 2015 release of his second Jam City album with Unhappy. The song marked an abrupt shift in his sound. Gone were the metallic, stuttering beats and glistening melodies epitomized in Classical Curves tracks Her and How to Relate to the Body. Latham sang over an irregular trudge of a beat, a blunted bassline, gentle noise squalls, and spangle-flicks of guitar, all deliberately blurred by reverb, his voice partially buried in the mix.
