Idle Race is the second album by the Idle Race, the follow-up to the band's debut, The Birthday Party. Released in 1969, this record was the first to be produced by Jeff Lynne. After this album failed to chart, Lynne accepted Roy Wood's invitation to join fellow Birmingham band the Move. All tracks composed by Jeff Lynne except where indicated. Rhythm guitarist Dave Pritchard, bass guitarist Greg Masters and drummer Roger Spencer were the core of a band initally known as Billy King and the Nightriders, then later known as Mike Sheridan and the Nightriders and briefly as just The Nightriders.
