He certainly had his musical vision in tact, as well as his presentation, and with the help of producer Ray Shulman, he was able to capture the sonic atmosphere of Echo & The Bunnymen, even if it was a mere refection, nevertheless, the music is deeply rooted in all things solely revolving around Ian McCulloch. Can anyone out there correctly identify the different versions of "Faith And Healing" on this edition? On disc 1, track 14 is the same mix that is on the U.S. promo cd (PRO-CD-3793), which ends with an a cappella reprise of "Faith And Healing". On the promo, the mix is called the Rock Mix. On disc 2, track 12 is supposed to be the Justin Strauss 12" remix, but isn't. It seems to be identical to track 14 from disc 1 (called the Carpenter's Son Mix) , and also to track 15 (called the Rock Mix) from disc 2, but it does not have the a cappella reprise. Is this the real "Carpenter's Son" Mix? I don't have the vinyl, and the U.S. cd maxi (9 21475-2) has the same mix as 1-14 and 2-15, which is listed as "The Carpenter's Son Mix" by Mark Saunders. My best GUESS would be that 1-14 and 2-15 are actually the "Rock Mix" (it has the reprise), and that 2-12 is actually the "Carpenter's Son Mix",(does not have the reprise). Any Mac fans out there, please help!

"The Carpenter's Son Mix" is the mix with the acapella ending. It appears this way on the Sire/Reprise singles, and on Mark Saunders' website. The "Rock Mix" from the promo CD is the Carpenter's Son Mix. The Justin Strauss 12" mix on disc 2 is an edit of the Carpenter's Son mix, apparently to match the run time of the Strauss 12" mix. The actual Justin Strauss 12" mix is similar to the Club mix that appears on disc 2 of this edition.

A truly amazing album full of texture and emotion. Tears me up each time I play it.
