Live at the Budokan is a live album by the Ian Gillan Band, recorded live on 22 September 1977 in Tokyo, Japan. Originally it was released only in Japan, in 1978 by EastWorld Records, being 'Live At The Budokan' EWS-81112 and 'Live At The Budokan Vol. 2' EWS81113. Each was a single LP in a gatefold sleeve. Recorded after the band's Scarabus album, I suspect this was probably among the last gig of the IGB well that band with that line-up. Opening on the excellent title track of the second and best album CAT, the IGB take their time building up, thus almost doubling its length, something they will do for Money Lender from the same album as well and to a lesser extent Over The Hill also from CAT, while.
