First I must say that the liner notes leave everything to be desired. The transfer to CD of all 44 Songs couldn't be much better. Clean sound. The mastering job done here is close to perfect. A wonderful 2 CD set. To me, these are the best versions of these classics for my taste. Starting off with his beautiful instrumental "Stardust". (Note: There is NOT a Vocal version of "Stardust" on this CD) Then a great version of "Georgia on my Mind" with his band and Hoagy sings 99.9% of the lead vocals here. It appears (I could be wrong) that this is early Shellac recordings. Plus others. Everything here is very early (With the exception of a couple of 1950's tunes, I believe) but the recording's and transfers sound wonderful for how old these are. Listen to the 1946 version of "Talking is a Woman". Stunning recording and performance. If you like or love Hoagy or just some great standards you will not regret this purchase.

Agreed on all points. The shame with the sleevenotes is that Fred Dellar is an excellent writer and if he'd been given the space – perhaps an 8-page booklet – instead of the flimsy effort included the notes could have done justice to the music.
