Hail Hail Rock 'n' Roll is an album by Chuck Berry and soundtrack to the film of the same name, which was released in 1987 under record label, MCA. The album was recorded live at The Fox Theatre, St Louis, Missouri and Berry Park, Wentzville, Missouri on October 6 and October 16, 1986. The event was held to celebrate Berry's 60th birthday and it included several special guests. The album does not include the Berry song School Days, which includes the line the album's title is derived from. Neither Dualtone nor Mr Berry offered much detail about the new album except to say that the material would be mostly original and that he has been recorded the tracks in assorted studios in the St Louis area for some time. Its not clear whether he would be fit enough to tour the material when it is released. Berry was rocks master theorist and conceptual genius, a songwriter who understood what the kids wanted before they knew themselves. When the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum opened in Cleveland in 1995, Mr. Berry performed at an inaugural concert, backed by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. In 2012, he headlined a Cleveland concert in his honor with a genre-spanning bill that included Darryl McDaniels of . and Merle Haggard. The album, called simply Chuck and scheduled for release in June, was to consist primarily of new compositions. And Mr. Berrys music has remained on tour extraterrestrially.
