Metro is the eponymous debut studio album by English rock band Metro. Recorded in 1976, it was released in 1977 through Transatlantic and Sire Records. It is the band's only album to feature both of the core members, Peter Godwin and Duncan Browne, due to the latter's departure in 1978. The album spawned the single Criminal World in 1977. The song was banned from BBC playlist due to its sexual content, which resulted in the record's commercial failure. It was later covered by David Bowie in his 1983. Metro Station is the debut studio album by American pop rock band Metro Station. The album was released on September 18, 2007 under ColumbiaRed Ink. Four singles were released from the album Shake It and Seventeen Forever charted on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was first released as a non-album single, The Metro bw Tell Me Why, on the MAO Music label in 1981. It reappeared, slightly remixed, on Berlin's breakthrough album Pleasure Victim, released on the independent label Enigma in 1982 and re-released on Geffen in 1983. In May 1983, The Metro was re-released as the third single from the album, and the second to appear on the Geffen label. It's an album of velvet-layered secrets and satin-sheeted mysteries, where lovers wear lace and have hearts carved from jade and the string section swells to save your ego the bother. Lavish choirs, murmuring Rebel and the Doctors of Madness both glanced in a similar direction, but, though a synth pop group later kidnapped the phrase's true meaning, Metro was the original orchestral maneuvers in the dark, with only Bryan Ferry on hand to drive the survivors home.
