Echt-Mahler from Haitink and the Concertgebouw in vintage analogue sound quality. This is the best place to start if you are a newcomer to Mahler's symphonies as Haitink isn't given to histrionics or pulling the music about and distorting the fabric, as it were. For contrast, I'd recommend Kubelik's Deutsche Grammophon cycle with the BRSO which offers a more propulsive and less dark-hued view of the symphonies.
