Matthew I recently found out about Gregory and the Hawk a few months ago and I've got to say I don't think I've ever heard a more beautiful voice. She manages to sell every emotion wholesale, from pure happiness to crushing heartbreak. This is a wonderful album that starts off incredibly strong. Leche - Gregory and the Hawk. This is not my favorite album of Meredith Godreau but Im glad that at least one is on vinyl. Seeing as this is such an indie artist I feared little attention to detail would be payed to making this music great on analog. But I think FatCat records have done things quite fine for this release. I cant compare to the CD directly but I dont think I need to do that to tell you that this is well made on its own. The mastering is clear with vocals in front. They could have done a better job on the sound staging and stereo separation but otherwise its near perfect to my ears. I even heard sounds I never did over streaming, especially on songs like A Second is a Century. The pressing is quiet and not distracting during tracks for the most part either ( the few times it was might have been due to my copy being in used and dirty condition before purchase). I feel like the addition of a lyrics sheet would have been especially nice and made the format feel more exclusive than the CD release, an unfortunate miss.
Overall Im extremely happy to own an LP of this artist and it only makes me wish even more that previous albums like Moneie and Kitchi and In Your Dreams would be put out on vinyl in the future.

Side Note:
I wonder if one of the reasons why such an Indie artist made a great sounding record is because she actually likes the format herself, which can be infered if you listen to the lyrics in Soulgazing.
