Album

While Tales of Us is Goldfrapp's most consistent album in terms of mood and sound, the duo still adds some variety. Thea brings film noir to the dancefloor with shivery synths and a beat that begins with footsteps, and Clay ends this collection of heartache on a relatively idealistic note. Even with these slight detours, Tales of Us isn't as immediate as, say, Supernature. Regardless, it's Goldfrapp's most sophisticated work to date, and one of their most consistently satisfying albums. Track Listing. Album 2014 25 Songs. Tales of Us Tracklist. Jo Lyrics. Art Direction Alison Goldfrapp & Mat Maitland. Art Direction At Big Active. Goldfrapp's sixth studio album Tales of Us is a fine and mature piece of work, possibly their best. Though it can sound on a casual first pass like a background muzak soundscape, repeat listening reveals the album to be a delicate mood piece with Alisons subdued and breathy vocals delivered with a finesse matched by the sensitive and imaginative instrumental work of Will Gregory. Godfrapp have always been a v intriguing outfit, and rarely do they produce music that could ever be described as mediocre, rushed or uninteresting. What is always evident is they craft, they don't just put out albums of filler material, each song is considered and thoughtful. Goldfrapp - Tales Of Us review: you better run for your lives. The album kicks off with their darkest opening yet. Jo explodes to life with high strings, and then they calm right down about 10 seconds in, settling into a lurch. A looping piano riff plays ad infinitum while Alison coos with a deceitful sweetness about blood red rivers, wind singing by the river, and ripples of black. Its not until the deadly chorus of Run, You better run for your lives is repeated again and again that the mood really settles down, like a set of rose thorns to the skin. Songs in album Goldfrapp - Tales Of Us 2013. Jo Deleted. TALES OF US sees Goldfrapp operating between the stripped down folk of SEVENTH TREE and the moody electronics of FELT MOUNTAIN. Building each track as a narrative around a name, this album sees the band engaging in poetic storytelling, from the delicate Jo to the quiet exploration of gender identity on Annabel
