From the LP MLH 64 708 "The Best of Stealers Wheel Stuck In The Middle With You"
Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the group Stealers Wheel in 1972 and produced several hits, most notably Stuck in the Middle with You and Star. In 1978, he recorded his second solo album, City to City, which included Baker Street, his most popular song. I never intended making a career out of any of the jobs I did. On weekends he and a classmate, future Stealers Wheel collaborator Joe Egan, played in a local group named The Maverix, mainly covering chart songs by groups such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. In the mid 1960s Rafferty earned money, for a time. The 1982 album Sleepwalking saw Rafferty taking a very different approach to his work. The album featured a different version and the album version is the one which appears on any compilation albums. The 7 version has never ,as far as I am aware , appeared on any Stealers Wheel or Gerry Rafferty album. Everything Will Turn Out Fine - Jerry Williams. The Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty, who has died aged 63 after a long illness, wrote the multimillion-selling hit Baker Street, which more than 30 years after its 1978 release still netted him an annual 80,000. At the end of the 1970s he did his best work, a series of richly resonant albums that gave no hint of their creator's inner troubles. A now-forgotten single, Everyone's Agreed That Everything Will Turn Out Fine, preceded the minor hit Star and the 1974 album Ferguslie Park. But Rafferty learned that their royalties had been filched, Egan returned to Scotland, and Stealers Wheel collapsed before the release of the album Right Or Wrong in 1975.
