Gary Lewis & the Playboys were an American 1960s era pop and rock group, fronted by musician Gary Lewis, the son of comedian Jerry Lewis. They are best known for their 1965 Billboard Hot 100 number-one single This Diamond Ring, which was the first of a string of hit singles they had in 1965 and 1966. The band had an earnest, boy-next-door image similar to British invasion contemporaries such as Herman's Hermits and Gerry and the Pacemakers. The group folded in 1970, but a version of the band later. The Legendary Masters Series. Liberty Singles Collection. Gary Lewis and The Playboys. Kissing My Love. Gary Lewis and his Playboys actually look like pop stars here - better groomed than the Beach Boys. The names of Playboys bandmembers outside of the lead singer are nowhere to be found. At least when Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong, and Flo Ballard took a back seat to Diana Ross the whole world knew who they were. Can anyone remember bassist Al Ramsey or John West, or guitarists Dave Costell and Dave Walker Of course not . Verified Purchase. This album is in great shape considering the age. Read more. All are on the 1966 LIBERTY Records LP entitled GARY LEWIS AND THE PLAYBOYS GOLDEN GREATS LRP 3468. Additionally on second generation copies see below there's five of their 'B' sides, plus the 'B' of a 13 record not included here My Heart's Symphony. ORIGINAL PRESSINGS of Golden Greats have one playlist variation I own an original. Track 2 on the 'B' side is supposed to be Symphony flip I Won't Make That Mistake Again. For later runs that song IS on the LP. This is the Official page of Gary Lewis and The Playboys

Track B2 on my copy is actually a cover of the Beatles' "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and not "I Won't Make That Mistake Again." The credits on the jacket and the label don't mention this swap, and I can't find any other mention of it online. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this seeing as there aren't any notes about it.

Someone pulled the wrong master.Didn't notice until the LP was issued.

Liberty probably used up some older label stock for the first run.

I'm sitting here, putting the album on the computer, going "SAY WHAT????? That's not listed!" Good to know my copy isn't the only one like that! But,they do a great job with "You've Got To Hid Your Love Away",though,so that's a plus for me.

This was the first issue that had wrong track on vinyl. I have 2 copies of this album; one of which has the same track you mentioned on side 2. How many of these pressings got out before vinyl master was corrected is unknown. I also noticed that Liberty logo on label and on album are different from each other. After correction of song on record, the logos matched.
