Gal Costa born Maria da Graça Costa Penna Burgos on 26 September 1945 is a Brazilian singer of popular music. Gal Costa was born on September 26, 1945, in the city of Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia, Brazil. Her mother, Mariah Costa Penna deceased 1993 spent hours listening to classical music during her pregnancy in hopes that Gal would be interested in music. Bem Bom Costa is the first solo album by the Brazilian singer Gal Costa, released in 1969. It was ranked the 80th best Brazilian album of all time by the Brazilian Rolling Stone magazine. Considered one of the most representative records of the countercultural Tropicália movement, the album features songwriting by various artist associated with the movement, with whom Costa had previously worked with in the 1968 collaboration album Tropicália: ou Panis et Circencis.
