Notes

Gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves.

Some copies came with a sticker with European Category 302 419-977 on upper right corner of back cover (UK version imported to mainland Europe?)

Sleevenotes: IQ number one becomes no.four in Zang Tuum Tumb's fishy Action Series. "Ain't that peculiar."

"Record two's inner sleeve includes a mail order form for FGTH accessories, such as the "Sophisticated Virginia Woolf vest for the luxury of life" and the "Jean Genet boxer shorts", modelled by Paul Rutherford of the group Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Claudia Bruecken [sic] of the group Propaganda ...

I have the US pressing from the 80s. It has so much surface noise and skips. The music is good but the vinyl they pressed it on is so thin and flimsy almost like a flexi disc it didn't stand the test of time.

Shalinrad
Does anyone else also experience the runout groove pushing the needle back to the final seconds of A4? I find it too perfect not to be a coincidence.

I saw a couple of fgth's welcome t.t.pd. on ebay that had rounded inner-sleeves,like joy divisions records had,but cant find any listed here?can anyone point me in the right direction?cheers and thanks upfont...d.

Dammy
This is that release. This has the rounded corners, look at the images.

Seevinev
My copy has rounded inner-sleeves and appears to be one of the variants above.

Perhaps this is covered elsewhere, but I can't seem to figure out which single-disc version I have. I am quite sure it's the "hybrid" 1985 European release (Made in France by PDO and a STEMRA box on the CD label). It has an Island catalog # 824052-2 both on the CD and the booklet/tray insert, but the tracks on the disc inside do not match the listing on the tray insert. The tracks on the CD line up with what I'm gathering from some previous reviews/comments the original CD-exclusive mix (610-195) but that catalog # is not printed anywhere on my copy. It contains the extended version of "Two Tribes" and includes "Happy Hi" instead of "San Jose." When I insert it into iTunes, the listings on the CD come up in Gracenote, not what's on the insert back cover. I'm just trying to figure out how to catalog it - LOL!!!

Kigabar
One of the most essential 80s albums. Love everything about this album, from the strong cover design through to all the great tracks. All the hits, relax, two tribes, power of love even has a couple of great covers, war and born to run. Best of all is the hedonistic brilliance of the title track.

Arryar
When I first heard this album in 1984, I thourght it was a reasonably good album, but not among the best I had. Now I hear the album 32 years after, and finds a lot of qualities that I have not heard back then. A solid cast album.

Spilberg
One of the flimsiest pieces of vinyl I own. The music is great, but it sounds a lot better on the CD to me, and I generally favour vinyl.

Alister
Where is the 30th Anniversary edition?

Cordann
Strangely enough It's in the compilation section. Possibly because it has another title?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Got my copy of the box last week. Will keep it sealed. Looks like a serious collector's item...

Low_Skill_But_Happy_Deagle
Absolutely essential piece of 80s electronic nu-energy synth-pop/disco produced by ZTT label owner Trevor Horn and those naughty boys Frankie goes to Hollywood. Ultimate FGTH classic Relax is heard here, ok so it’s about gay sex, but that bassline and those keyboard stabs seem still as fresh and exciting as when first heard on ‘80s dancefloors. Title track ‘Welcome To The Pleasuredome’ is a sublime grinding electronic orchestration. Resonating in grandeur, this big room classic creates an ambience, and was used unsubtly by Ron Hardy as the first record of the night at the Muzic Box. The message of the album is love not war, sex as release from strife. Or something.

Mogelv
A very good and profound review by RTW."a wonder of a record and worth every bizarre second of its epic play time"I'd like to add you could call the album "All The Hits & More". The hits (Relax, Two Tribes, War!) come in wonderful mixes and the rest is just surprising (San Jose, Krisco Kisses). The music production is state of the art in 1984/1985 (ZTT - Trevor Horn, who also heavily influenced the blasted sound of The Art Of Noise and Propaganda). Some of the instrumental grooves and breaks were later used as samples in techno/trance tracks. Just bought the 2xLP again today. In July 2010 the music is as fresh and driving as ever. get a good clean copy and enjoy!
