Rock Waves is the 1971 second album by the Dutch band Focus. It includes the hit Hocus Pocus which features yodelling and operatic falsetto from Thijs van Leer combined with Jan Akkerman's heavy metal guitar. Even though the sound was highly experimental, it became very successful peaking at 9 in the Dutch Top 40 and later becoming popular in the United States with a 9 position on the Billboard Hot 100 and a 2 position in the UK Albums Chart. Moving Waves is the 1971 second album by the Dutch band Focus. Focus - Moving Waves 1971. To favorites 20 Download album. Listen album. Progressive Rock. The album that boosted Focus into at least semi-fame outside of continental Europe, Moving Waves blasts off with their hit single, Hocus Pocus. Built around a killer guitar hook by Jan Akkerman and a series of solo turns by the band, this instrumental replaced Wipeout as a staple of FM radio. The bizarrely hilarious vocal and accordion solos by Thijs van Leer - one of which absurdly concludes with rousing stadium cheers - have to be heard to be believed. Focus II better known by its international title, Moving Waves is the second studio album by Dutch progressive rock band Focus, released in October 1971 on Imperial Records. Following the departure of Martin Dresden and Hans Cleuver in 1970, the band recruited Cyril Havermans on bass and Pierre van der Linden on drums and proceeded to work on new material. The album includes Hocus Pocus, the group's most successful single, and Eruption, a 23-minute track based on the opera Euridice by Jacopo Peri. Symphonic Prog.
