I don't quite understand why this album is rated so badly, it's regular mid-90's pop, not better or worse. Even though the cover versions sounds nothing like the originals doesn't make it a bad album. That would mean that Metallica's Garage Days album also is crap, but strangely enough that album has good reviews.

Funny, isn't it? I never understood the bad reviews either. I think it is a fantastic compilation of classics, through the lens of a great 80's band. Crystal Ship and I wanna take you higher are in my opinion beautifully executed. And as a great bonus you have the best version of the chauffeur with drive by.Critics... whatever.

I've always loved this album and could never get the bad reviews. Personally i had never heard quite a few of the originals , but curiosity drew me to listen to them . These where well produced songs and quite a great interpretation came out of it . Not cheesy at all . I can think of many other artists who just sound like glorified kareoke .

Music writers (surely the most pointless, worthless job there is) were very jealous of Duran Duran back in the early 80s seeing these blokes having a great time jetting round the world, meeting sexy girls and making good music while they were stuck doing their ridiculous jobs in some office in London. And I think its carried on from that. They'd have rather written about some po-faced idiots making dire music about being on the dole* (when usually the makers had neve been near a dole queue) and what politics they were into. The result Duran Duran music is still listened to 35 years later while no-one can even remember the names of the awful rubbish the 'critics' were raving about back then. And believe you me (from someone who was on the dole for a bit in the 1980s) the last thing anyone who was actually struggling for a bit of money would want to listen to is mundane, earnest and pompous music about unemployment written by students.
