A few notes on this release which folks may find helpful. I would consider this an essential Donovan record from the 1960s because it includes singles that weren't featured on his albums on Epic during the period: Epistle to Dippy, There Is a Mountain, Jennifer Juniper, and Lalena. Colours and Catch the Wind are in my opinion beautiful contemporary rerecordings with arrangements that update these folk tunes, making them seem one of a piece with the other tracks on the compilation. They aren't available anywhere else, to my knowledge.

The original version of the compilation appeared before the LP Barabajagal came out, which explains the absence of some classic Epic tracks. However, later reissues on CD included cuts like Atlantis and Barabajagal as a bonus (and sometimes altered the running order). But the label also decided to include early recordings of Catch the Wind and Colours from 1965 on later versions of the compilation, perhaps because it became possible to license them. Note that there are single and album versions of those two songs which are notoriously interchanged and mislabeled, so do your homework if you have a particular preference.
