Released in alternately as Doctor Ross, the Harmonica Boss, I'd Rather Be an Old Woman's Baby Than a Young Woman's Slave, or simply The Harmonica Boss, this combines earlier singles and album tracks recorded for Detroit's Fortune and Hi-Q imprints. Some of the tracks here - like the original version of Cat Squirrel - are cut in mono while the stereo sides emanate from a chaotic and rough and tumble session with the good Doctor being backed by a group known as the Disciples of Soul. This album differs greatly from his better one-man band sides, as everything on here. Doctor Ross October 21, 1925 May 28, 1993, also known as Doctor Ross the Harmonica Boss, born Charles Isaiah Ross in Tunica, Mississippi, was an American blues singer, guitarist, harmonica player and drummer. Ross's blues style has been compared to that of John Lee Hooker and Sonny Boy Williamson I. His recordings for Sun Records in the 1950s include The Boogie Disease and Chicago Breakdown. Within the lyrics of The Boogie Disease, Ross notably sang I may get better, but I'll never get well. Here's a straight ahead blues cut from my all original album LxA aka Little Xannie Annie. That's Kirkie Fletcher on the searing six strings and lil ol' me on vocals, harmonica and drums simultaneously. All cut live at Pacifica Recording Studios with Glenn Nishida at the helm doing a fabulous job of engineering. Hello We have detected Русский as your language preference.
