Album

Come Taste The Band is the tenth studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, originally released in October 1975. It was co-produced and engineered by the band and longtime associate Martin Birch. It was the final Deep Purple studio record prior to the band's initial disbandment in 1976, therefore making it the only album to feature Tommy Bolin, who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, and the final of three albums to feature David Coverdale on lead vocals and Glenn Hughes on bass, as none of. Already there were rumblings of lacklustre on-stage performances and apathetic audience responses. Plus, the album closed the Purple story or so was believed to be the case at the time with the absolutely fantastic, moody, beautiful You Keep On Moving. Other highlights for me are the rockers Lady Luck and the killer riff that is Love Child. Today I think of this album as the beginning of Deep Purple morphing into Whitesnake. They were working out a new formula and in a few years the hits would start flowing again. Original Album Classics. Deep Purple. Come Taste The Band. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore had gone by this time, preceeded in 1973 by bassist Roger Glover and lead screamer Ian Gillan. Their respective replacements were the late Tommy Bolin, Glenn Hughes, and David Coverdale, steered by faithful members Jon Lord and Ian Paice, to make this solid and charged effort.
