It was released on Sacred Bones Records in the United States and Sunday Best in Europe. Consisting of 12 modern blues songs, The Big Dream was recorded and produced by Lynch with his frequent musical collaborator Dean Hurley at Lynch's own Asymmetrical Studio in Los Angeles, California during 2012. In 1983, David Lynch began writing a weekly syndicated comic called The Angriest Dog in the World. His second solo album, The Big Dream, which follows on 2011s Crazy Clown Time, is another example. It feels very much like a continuation of its predecessor, with the same weaknesses and strengths. The blues have been a part of David Lynch's art for years: pieces from Angelo Badalamenti's scores, like Fire Walk with Me's The Pink Room, are dominated by time-tested chord progressions and moody atmospheres, while projects like Blue Bob demonstrated Lynch's formidable guitar skills. All of which is to say that his second album, The Big Dream, should sound familiar to his fans, even as it pushes the blues' boundaries. The Big Dream is released July 15th. Genre: Experimental. The Big Dream is entirely in keeping with all of David Lynchs previous work at times, it is deeply sinister and often quite unpleasant, but its a compelling unpleasantness, one that draws you in and transfixes you.
